Bar code technology dates back to the 1960s and early 1970s, but did not come into widespread use as we know it today until the later 1970s. Retail applications, primarily grocery stores, saw the need for automatic identification technology and pushed development ahead.

We summarized the details of the different types of barcodes in order to provide our clients with a quick reference guide that they may consult as needed.

The top piece of bread is the facestock, and the bottom piece of bread is the release liner. The jelly is the primer, the peanut butter the adhesive, and then I ran out of layers.
