RFID (radio frequency identification) adoption remains slow but is expected to grow faster in the next 10 years. The technology is moving quicker than it did previously because of reduced cost, standardization, and large company adoption leading smaller players to follow their lead.

This is an issue that arises quite often in industrial environments, in yards, warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing plants, or retail stores. The reasons why barcodes are sometimes almost impossible to scan are many. The labels could be suffering from wear and tear caused by transport.

The prices of products in the identification industry, just like other industries, depend on the price of raw materials. The identification industry depends on the paper, ink, coatings, and plastics industries to provide these raw materials.

Welcome to The Sticky Note!

We hope you enjoy this edition of The Sticky Note as much as we enjoyed putting it together. We know that we can’t address every question in every industry, but this issue comes close.

We tried to find subjects of interest that everybody can benefit from, no matter in what industry you work. For example, everyone (or almost) is interested in the cost of raw materials as this affects their bottom line directly, independent of industry type. The article ‘Why is everything costing you more these days?’ addresses, and explains the reasons behind, the increases in raw materials prices in our own industry.

The VP485 by VIP Color is probably the rebel printer of all label printers. The best little device for cost conscious SMBs who want industrial performance equipment without industrial equipment cost.  We decided to write about this little known jewel so that you have all the facts at hand if you ever have to make a new label printer purchase.

What’s on an RFID tag? We bet you always wanted to know. Find out how they work and what data people put on them!

Enjoy your read, and as always, send your comments and questions to customerservice@imsinc.ca!
