Inkjet printing has a reputation for being relatively slow, and with a lesser quality than other technologies, however, this is quite wrong! There are many solutions to the incredible results for printing color labels.

The technology of the Australian company Memjet, found on the VIPColor VP700 printer, is one of the reasons for these exceptional performances, both in terms of speed and print quality.

How does this technology work?

It is a print head that uses “waterfall” technology. In this print head alone, there are 70 400 (!) jets, that ‘project’ millions of drops of ink per second. This print head and its thousands of jets can reach unprecedented precision and impressive speeds of up to 12 inches per second. A drop of ink has a diameter of up to 14 microns, and its extreme precision placement ensures the quality of the print. Of course, the ink must be adapted to these feats. Memjet developed an ink that is water based, absorbed by the substrate in a few milliseconds to avoid any burrs or vagueness. The ink is then set at the same moment where it comes out of the printer.

How can such technology be useful for labels in color printers?

It is the perfect solution to print your labels internally. A printer, such as the VIPColor VP700, can print the whole roll of labels at a high speed with variable content and high-quality color. In other words, if you need to have pre-printed labels in-stock, Memjet ink jet technology allows you to print and save, as you go.

IMS is proud to offer this innovative technology and the VP700 printer. If you want to launch & print your color labels internally, please feel free to contact one of our specialists!
